There’s always room for some more magnets on the fridge, right?? That’s what I thought when I made these fun DIY air drying clay leaf magnets the other day! You might remember these magnets from last year too… well, now it was time for a little change on the fridge!
DIY Air Drying Clay Leaf Magnets

What I’ve used:
~ these artificial leaves or these
[I cut apart some of my artificial leaf branches to make them smaller]
~ jar for evening out the clay and cut the magnets
~ watercolours for painting
Putting the clay onto a clean place mat, I used a jar to roll out the clay as even as possible. You don’t want it to be too thin because they’d break apart easily after.
Press the leaves gently into the clay.
Next, place the jar or your cookie cutter or the tool you use to cut out your magnets on the parts you like most and want to be on the magnet, then slowly peel them off the mat onto a clean mat to let dry.
Once they were dry [ it took these about 2 days…] I grabbed a nail filer to even out bumps and edges.
And then the fun part: Painting them! I used simple watercolours and more water than paint. I brushed over the magnet in one even brush and let it dry.
You could just let them be pretty decor on your coffee table or on a little tray if you don’t like the magnet idea….They would break if they fell off the fridge, although I hot glued pretty strong magnets to the back and so far they’re still on the fridge!
Pin it and save it for later!
Have you ever worked with air drying clay?? if so, what did you make?? I really like crafts like these and would love to try something else with clay!
