Scandinavian Folk Art Flower Stencil Coasters

How to make your own beautiful Scandinavian Folk Art Flower Stencil Coasters

Today I’m here to show you my Scandinavian Folk Art Flower Stencil Coasters. The other day, my friend Goedele from Dala Muses showed me her brand new Scandinavian Folk Art inspired stencil collection and I was immediately drawn to these beautiful flowers.

When Goedele asked me, if I wanted to try them, I knew right away that they’d be perfect to personalize some wooden coasters I had laying around. I made these coasters as a gift for another friend of mine and I know she’s going to love them!

What I have used:

Dala Muses Folk Art Flower Stencils

black permanent marker

medium sized wooden coasters

clear furniture wax to seal it

I decided to use a black permanent marker for my coasters. You can, of course, use any kind of paint & different colors to match the different kind of flower combinations you like. I just wanted a monochrome look for these coasters right now. Plus, there is no drying time, so you don’t have to worry about putting the stencils on top of each other.

There are so many possibilities with these stencils! For this flower, I started out with one part, placing it on the coaster and tracing the stencil with my marker. I didn’t trace the inner circle though.

Instead, I added another stencil part and traced it.

So much fun playing around with the different design possibilities!

These are the combinations I came up with, but I am sure there are more!

They can be used for candle lights, plants, you name it!!

Well, tell me what you’re thinking?? I think they turned out so pretty and I can’t wait to use them in future projects. I think I will try them on tea towels with different paint colors next!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Thank you Goedele for sending me your beautiful stencils!!

Oh my they’re like interchangeable stencils. How cool is that. The patterns reminds me of a traditional print that so many of the woman in South Africa love called Shweshwe. I love it. I’m going to pop over to Dala Muses right now to see if I they ship to SA.

Katrin I love that you can use them as coasters but also as bases for so many different things. Those stencils are super cute too.
