Easy DIY Candle Holder

How to make an easy DIY candle holder using furniture legs and a wooden coaster.

The other day, while going through our storage room and throwing away some stuff, I came across one wooden furniture leg. I remember buying it, probably about a year ago or so. Back then, I thought of turning it into a candle holder but never actually got around to doing it. And it was tossed in the storage room and that was that. I completely forgot about that idea too.

So now, when it caught my eye, I finally made a super easy DIY candle holder with a furniture leg plus one of my wooden coasters, that I get for 90 cents here at our local Dollar store. But I still had some extra wooden coasters at home, so I actually didn’t have to go and buy anything for this project. Awesome, right???

What I have used:

wooden furniture leg [similar]

wooden coaster or plate [similar]

black spray paint

My wooden furniture leg came with a screw inside already, so I just drilled a hole into my wooden coaster and could easily screw it onto the leg. If your coasters come without the screw, you could just glue the pieces together using wood glue or silicone. Even easier.

It would look great just left bare like this, no paint at all needed. But I decided to go for a moody look and so I spray painted the candle holder black. Then sanded just a little.

You can see the screw still coming out of the top, which is no problem at all actually. I just screwed it into the candle and it’s sitting nicely on top of the holder now.

Awesome Katrin. I’ve seen some of those wooden legs here in South Africa and I know we have a few wooden coasters lying around too. I’m so going to make some of these. I think they’d be just perfect for our outdoor dining area and they’d make great gifts for friends too.

This has to be the easiest DIY candle holder I’ve ever seen Katrin. I love how you turned it upside down like that. So original. And here I thought it would go the other way around!
