How To Have A Small Entrance Organised & Functional

An entrance is such a well used area of the house and always kind of busy holding a lot of stuff like coats, shoes etc. So today, I thought, I show you how to have a small entrance organised & functional & pretty too!

Our entrance is on the smaller side and we don’t have a closet for our coats, shoes, bags etc. I don’t mind that actually, because this way, stuff doesn’t really pile up.

I do have to say, that we live in an area where we don’t get snow and only a few rainy days a year. If we did, I’d probably have to put up a closet in the office which is located right off the entrance, to hold all the winter gear. But we don’t need that, so I show you our simple and small, yet functional entryway.

You can see how there isn’t a lot of space for storage. We use a door coat rack [similar] on the back of our entrance door, which normally is a little more loaded, but I took some coats down for the fotos.

This bench [similar] is such a great storage spot! Inside are our scarves, hats, purses & totes. It doesn’t look big, but it actually is. I do go through all of it once or twice a year to make room and take out, what we don’t need or use anymore.

Here you see a shoe cabinet and the little side table is actually holding a felt basket with our slippers. On top of it is a small organizer [similar]for keys, extra coins, etc. Inside the drawer are our sunglasses.

Your home is so light and airy Katrin and as always your unique way of decorating just shines through. I’d give anything for our entryway to look so welcoming and organized. We’re always tripping over bags and shoes on our way in. Now we just avoid using the front door and go around back 😀 I’m going to have to get my butt in gear and make some kind of plan

Thank you Michelle. When we get home from school, bags get in the way too and that bench is filled with stuff, it doesn’t look as tidy 😉 #reallife!

Tidying up and a place for everything, just like Marie says. I think by my standards your entryway is huge Katrin. We have just a space wide enough to walk in. No room for any sort of storage units at all. I think you make this space look warm and inviting but most of all you for the perfect spot for all of your necessities.

I have an even smaller entrance, Katrin. You actually step into my wee kitchen when entering My Wee Abode. However, I have a coat rack and an even smaller storage bench, as you do. It works well for me. I would like to add a mirror, as well, but still trying to figure that out! Yours looks lovely! Thanks for sharing on Homestyle Gathering. Pinning to several boards!

I enjoy how bright and functional this space is. And the little shelf for dropping things is a must. It’s such a nice functional space
