Cosy Home Nights: Elevate Your At-Home Casino Experience With These Casino-Themed Movies

The best thing about renovating your home is that you get to use a new space in a way that you have never before. For example, as a celebration for any new lounge, television area or home cinema, you could consider hosting a bit of a casino-themed movie night. This will allow you to show off your new space, get people to come dressed in-theme and be a fun night to remember.

Here is a list of some of the best casino-themed movies there that you can enjoy in your new home cinema lounge.

Take the Night Away with Ocean’s Eleven

Cosy Home Nights: Elevate Your At-Home Casino Experience With These Casino-Themed Movies

You honestly cannot think about casino movies without immediately jumping to the classic Ocean Eleven movies. George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts are just a few of the excellent actors. Imagine sitting on your new couches or lounge set, soaking up a humorous and action-packed cinematic experience. Who knows perhaps this will allow you to see another side of gambling and you’ll hop on a site like BonusFinder to experience it for yourself.

The movie follows actor George Clooney, whose character is Danny Ocean (he’s the main guy if that isn’t clear) and his aim is to rob a casino. More importantly, Andy Garcia’s casino, whose character is Terry Benedict.

The motives are not exactly clear and although he is known as a thief and just came out of prison, his aim at Terry Benedict’s casino is personal, the owner hurt his close friend in a shady casino business deal and he happens to be dating Ocean’s ex-wife, Tess Ocean, played by Julia Roberts.

It’s an excellent movie, one that allows you to get into the scene of gambling. The movie is fast-paced and the other actors in the movie do an excellent job at carrying it all. Ocean eventually hires a team of robbers, all played by the above-mentioned actors and with humor, grit and elegance, they pull off an exceptional heist-like film. It’s filled with ups and downs, fun, serious and heart-warming moments.

Go Back in Time to a Game of 21

Another interesting movie that is slightly based on casinos but has a much stronger gambling and poker story is called 21. You will have probably heard of it before, Kevin Spacey, Jim Sturgess and Kate Bosworth – a trifecta of perfection – ring any bells? If you put this movie on with a group of friends, get ready for a cosy evening with a mix between a romantic movie and a bit of an action casino-themed film.

This movie follows Jim Sturgess, whose character is Ben Campbell, as he enters university and goes to his first mathematics class. The professor of the class is played by Kevin Spacey, whose character is Micky Rosa, who starts to teach this student and realizes he has exceptional mathematic capabilities.

This brings about a certain level of interest in the character Ben Campbell and so the professor, Micky, invites him to a game night. Ben has no idea what he means by this but he comes to the room one evening and finds a table full of students all playing poker.

He slowly realizes that his professor is creating a card-counting group, out of his best students. At first Ben wants nothing to do with it but as he gets to know the team better, especially his love interest Jill Taylor, played by Kate Bosworth, he starts to get more involved.

Watching the team train, seeing how the professor pushes them at every turn to make them as exceptional as possible and then how they actually go to a casino and try out their card-counting in the real world is fascinating.

Dive in With Molly’s Game

Dive in With Molly's Game

Molly’s Game is actually based on a true story, following the famous Molly Bloom, once an Olympic-level skier, who then directed her skill for excellence into hosting some of the most famous poker nights. A nice excuse to get some of the females in your life together as this is one of the only casino movies that is actually based on a true story and a woman.

The movie follows Molly, played by Jessica Chastain and how she sets up the most selective and prestigious gaming nights. Her events brought in world-famous athletes, actors and unbeknownst to her, people of the Russian Mob. You get to watch Molly build up her career and navigate a world that is competitive and also male-oriented and you see just how well she maneuvers through it all.

She handles every challenge with grit and determination and she becomes very wealthy from it. It becomes tricky for her when she starts to lose control over the people who come to play with her, when the Russian mob enters her domain and she’s not aware of their reputation, the FBI starts to watch her and that’s where the movie gets interesting.

It’s all based on poker and the love of wagering but there is an ethical and powerful background story behind it. It is filled with heart-stopping moments that will get you thinking about what is going to happen next.

Make Your Home Cosy

Having a movie night at home is a great way to show off your new space. It gives you the chance to bring friends over and having a theme just ups the ante even more. You don’t have to go with a casino theme, it can be anything you want but casinos are known for their luxury and allure, which would match your new home-set.
